Do’s and Don’ts of Text Message Discovery - CloudNine — cloudnine.com Discovery requests of the past had little reason to include text messages as a form of evidence. As texts became the preferred method for informal communications, their usage in the business world also grew. Today, some industry experts refer to texts as the new email, citing them as the main source of relevant information. This shift presents new challenges for litigants.
What is Ediscovery Data Processing and Culling? – EDRM — edrm.net During the ediscovery process, potentially relevant electronically stored information (ESI) is identified and collected. After this process, in-house teams need to turn that ESI into a usable format for the review stage of a matter. In addition, whether you’re conducting review in-house or leveraging outside counsel for higher complexity or higher risk matters, the overall collected data volume needs to be culled down to a usable size.

In the Workplace
What's Your Definition of What a Job Should Be? — www.mikemcbrideonline.com That's it. I know there are some who will tell you that they are passionate about their work, and they "never work a day in my life". Good for them, but we have to start admitting that is a very small, select, group of people in a very small, select number of jobs. There are not billions of jobs out there like that for everyone to just go get. There are not even millions of them. Maybe I'm not going to change the world by doing just interesting work with people I don't hate. That's OK because I have the time to change the world in my own little way when I'm not working instead.

Linked: Remote working jobs: 5 problems we need to solve in 2022 — www.mikemcbrideonline.com Sadly, most managers just don't know how to do this. We've lived in a world where hard work = hours worked for so long that we don't know how to do anything else, even though it was also never really true. There have always been people who "work" long hours just to look good without ever really getting anything done, and others who get work done very efficiently and see no reason to sit at their desk longer and play that game. (And everything in between these two extremes!) What we haven't done in many cases is figure out better ways to measure who is getting actual work done, because sometimes that's hard to do.
Social Media
Social Media Has Everyone Using Fear and Outrage to Get Attention, even the NY Times — www.mikemcbrideonline.com I'm making an example of the Times because they like to consider themselves America's "Paper of Record", and even they are now using fear and outrage to gain attention, no better than a Twitter or Facebook troll, but it's happening everywhere. It's also no surprise that it's becoming popular among all media outlets because it works. If we've learned anything from fake news sites, biased cable channels, YouTube "experts" and social media influencers it's that you will never lose an audience by making people afraid. You will get their attention, you will stimulate a fear-based response that causes their brain to kick into survival mode and become hyperalert to dangers, which you are happy to continue to feed them.
Security and Privacy
